After selling Pizza Hut, Yum! Brands is building growth on loyalty, beverages and technology
Yum! Brands has announced its third-quarter results: after Pizza Hut was removed from the portfolio, the company is focusing on modernizing the KFC and Taco Bell brands, expanding beverage platforms, and simplifying restaurant operations through technology.

At a conference dedicated to Yum! Brands' third-quarter results, the company stated that it has entered a new growth phase following the sale of Pizza Hut. According to CEO Chris Turner, just two weeks after the transaction closed, 150 senior executives of the company gathered around the "Recipe for Good Growth" strategy.
The company's "Raise the B.A.R." priorities rest on three directions: anticipating the needs of future consumers, improving restaurant economics to create more value for franchisees, and simplifying operations by fully leveraging the potential of the "Byte by Yum!" platform. The conference also touched on plans to refresh core menu offerings, expand beverage platforms, and strengthen customer loyalty.
At the same time, the company faces uneven performance across its brands. The quarterly report reflected that KFC and Taco Bell locations in Puerto Rico were closed due to franchise problems. The company also switched its beverage partner from Pepsi to Coca-Cola at all KFC restaurants in the US in October — a decision that was not discussed at the conference.
For franchise networks in Baku and the region, this signal indicates that international brands are now aiming to grow not merely by opening new locations, but by increasing the profitability and operational efficiency of existing restaurants through technology.
