On October 30, a training session on identifying human trafficking risks and responding correctly to such cases was held for tourism industry representatives, organized by the State Tourism Agency. The event featured speeches by Emin Asadov, an employee of the Main Department for Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mehriban Zeynalova, chairperson of the NGO Coalition against Human Trafficking, and coalition members Mahira Amirhuseynova and Aghamirza Baghirov.
The purpose of the training was to enhance the skills of hotel and tourism company employees in recognizing possible signs of human trafficking, identifying risky situations in a timely manner, and behaving safely in such cases. Participants were informed about the nature of human trafficking, forms of exploitation, and the relevant legal framework.
The program examined risk detection based on examples that may be encountered in the daily operations of hotels and tourism enterprises. Suspicious situations that could be observed during guest registration, room service, restaurant operations, transfers, and the organization of tourism services were explained — including restrictions on a person's freedom of movement, their documents being held by another person, and other signs indicating a possible risk of exploitation.
Participants were advised not to conduct independent investigations when encountering a suspicious situation, not to put a potential victim at risk, to avoid confrontation, and to report the information to the relevant authorities. The importance of identifying risk signs related to children and exercising caution in such cases was also emphasized. The training was conducted in an interactive format, and questions from industry representatives were answered.
