Ganja Regional Tourism Council held its first meeting

On October 30, the first meeting of the Ganja Regional Tourism Council was held in the city of Ganja. Along with the city of Ganja, the Council covers the Goygol, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Samukh, Shamkir, Gazakh, Agstafa and Tovuz districts.

The meeting was attended by representatives of local structures of state bodies operating in those areas, as well as representatives of state bodies related to the tourism sector. Deputy heads of district executive authorities spoke and emphasized that the establishment of the Council would contribute to the socio-economic development of the Western region and to the more efficient use of local tourism potential.

Kenan Guluzade, adviser to the chairman of the State Tourism Agency and chairman of the Council, provided information on the purposes of establishing the Council and the legal framework of its activities. He stated that the initiative serves to strengthen cooperation among state bodies and to improve coordination in the tourism sector. Guluzade also spoke about the essence of the State Program on the development of tourism for 2026–2030 and the tasks arising from it.

At the meeting, attention was drawn to the directions in the "Proposals Plan" on the development of the regions — accessibility and infrastructure in tourism, tourism products and experiences, marketing, promotion and digitalization, industry development, human resources and quality standards — and the work to be carried out by the main implementing bodies.

Elgun Javadov, head of the Agency's Cultural Heritage and Regional Tourism Department, noted the importance of the Councils in terms of revealing local tourism potential and creating competitive tourism products on the basis of a unified approach.
