Amadeus is preparing to add travel insurance and weather guarantee features to its hotel reservation platform iHotelier. According to the company's announcement, the service is being developed together with Battleface and Sensible Weather.
The mechanism works as follows: a guest will be able to purchase travel insurance or a weather guarantee directly at the time of booking. The guarantee protects the guest in the event of bad weather conditions and travel disruptions. The hotel, in turn, earns additional revenue from this — within the booking process itself, without opening a separate sales channel.
Direct application for the Azerbaijani market is still premature — iHotelier is mainly widespread among international hotel chains. But the logic is clear: offering a guest who books online an add-on such as insurance or a weather guarantee at that very moment is more efficient than selling it later at the front desk.
