Turkey's draft law on foreign online reservation platforms goes to committee
The draft law regulating foreign digital placement platforms in Turkey will be discussed in the parliamentary committee tomorrow. A TÜROFED official says the issue should not be reduced solely to the Booking dispute.

A draft law on foreign digital placement platforms in Turkey will be discussed at the Public Works, Reconstruction, Transport and Tourism Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on October 6. This was announced by Gazi Murat Şen, vice president of TÜROFED and member of the TOBB Tourism Council.
According to Şen, the regulation should not be reduced solely to the dispute around Booking. His main point of emphasis is the protection of Turkish hoteliers' access to global customers.
Speaking with the idea that "a room that cannot be sold has no tomorrow," Şen emphasized the importance of digital access in tourism. This is not only about the operating conditions of platforms, but about a hotel's ability to receive orders from foreign markets.
This discussion is indirectly relevant for Azerbaijan: the access of local hotels and guesthouses to foreign guests is also mainly built through international online platforms. The model to be adopted in Turkey may change the flow of reservations and commission terms in the neighboring market.
