The number of tourists in Turkish tourism is decreasing, hotel expenses are increasing
According to the Tourism Databank's figures for the first eight and nine months of 2026, the number of tourists in Türkiye is declining, while hotel expenses continue to rise.

Turizm Databank's analysis of the sector indicators for the first eight and first nine months of 2026 reveals two opposing trends in Turkish tourism: the number of tourists is declining, while hotel costs continue to rise.
The analysis is built on 20 indicators and 5 critical signals. The data show that the domestic market is strengthening — local guests are replacing part of the decline in the foreign tourist flow.
The rise in hotel costs creates margin pressure for establishments whose revenues are not growing at the same pace. The decline in the number of foreign guests directly affects occupancy indicators.
For Azerbaijan, this may mean a change in the competitor market's pricing policy: if rising costs in Türkiye push hotel prices upward, a price advantage may emerge for hotels in Baku and the regions. At the same time, the strengthening of the domestic market increases the importance of offers targeted at the local guest segment.
