Holafly: eSIM should be as ordinary as a boarding pass by 2028
Holafly senior representative Richard Trinder said at the Skift Global Forum 2026 that travelers' connectivity should be shared among airlines, hotels and platforms, and that eSIM services should become as commonplace as airline tickets by 2028.

Richard Trinder, a senior representative of Holafly, spoke at the Skift Global Forum 2026 event, discussing the role of uninterrupted internet connectivity during travel. According to him, communication problems affect not only the guest but also the operations of airlines, hotels and transport services.
Trinder stated that eSIM services should be integrated into travel services in such a way that by 2028 they become as ordinary as a travel ticket. The company's service called "Always On" allows access to information even in emergency situations.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation and technical integration between hotels and other travel businesses with technology partners. He noted that these steps are also necessary for readiness for artificial intelligence-based services.
In Azerbaijan, this signal for hotels and guesthouses shows that resolving the internet and mobile communication issue before the guest's arrival is increasingly becoming an expected service. Especially for properties with many foreign guests, simple partnership options with local mobile operators or eSIM providers may come onto the agenda.
