On October 12, the Azerbaijan–Cambodia business forum was held in Baku, organized by the Ministry of Economy. About 100 businesspeople from the fields of industry, agriculture, construction, finance, tourism, healthcare and information technology participated in the event.
Speaking at the forum, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Hun Manet, touched upon the development of economic ties between the two countries and the expansion of mutual investment opportunities. Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov spoke about opportunities for expanding trade and investment cooperation. Cambodia's Minister of Commerce, Cham Nimul, presented her country's business and investment opportunities and the prospects for expanding cooperation with Azerbaijani companies.
Within the framework of the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was exchanged between the Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce. The President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, Neak Oknha Kith Meng, stated that the forum would contribute to building new partnerships and promoting mutual investment. Presentations on the business and investment opportunities of both countries were held at the event.
Although tourism is singled out as a separate sector in the list, the signal does not indicate any specific agreement, figure or timeframe regarding hotel or guesthouse projects. In other words, for now this is a signal-type meeting for the market: a communication channel is opened at the level of the chambers, while a specific business decision will depend on subsequent negotiations.
